Asana: The seat, the base, the root.

In 2006 I came to Panama for the first time. My focus was to find the perfect location to launch Asana Panama yoga retreats. For the next eleven years I traveled to some of the most beautiful areas of this fantastic country. In 2016 I found Puerto Armuelles and knew that this was the home for Asana Panama to take root.

In a partnership with the owners of The Tsunami Inn, the final stages of Asana Panama came into being. The location is what I had searched for - beautiful, peaceful, remote and restorative -

the perfect place for yoga retreats and teacher trainings to be held.

It is my pleasure to assist you in planning your retreat and sharing the magic of Puerto Armuelles.

UPDATE: May 30,2019

I am not going to be marketing the week long retreats. At this time there are not enough things to do in Puerto for a retreat group.

It would be more suited to a 3/4 day retreat. If you are interested in booking a shorter retreat it can be done directly through Cabins@TsunamiInn.com.

Mat, block and strap rental for a small per day fee.

about puerto armuelles

Puerto Armuelles is one of the only true beach towns in all of Panama. Located on the Pacific ocean side it has a constant ocean breeze. The town was built by the Chiquita Banana Corporation for shipping bananas from Panama to other countries.

When Chiquita left Puerto Armuelles the town did not have a major income producer. Recently, Puerto Armuelles has seen a resurgence in the banana industry thanks to the Delmonte Corporation.

The current population is around 24,000. Because of its remote location, until recently, Puerto Armuelles had been under the radar of big developers. Currently, north of the town, new luxury home developments and hotel complexes are in the construction phase.

There are many people immigrating from the US, Canada, Germany, Italy and other countries.
